2019 Kiwanian of the Year

Pat Brennan

Pat Brennan accepts Kiwanian of the Year Award from Cathi Litcher. Bill Horstmann and Carrie Hewitt look on.

Pat Brennan the 2019 winner was born and raised in Michigan. Has had four career paths – Served as a Mess Sargent in the Army, owned and ran a group of 13 restaurants, designed automated hydraulic power systems, and currently owns a thriving local business.

He and his wife of 37 years have vacationed in Topsail their entire lives. In 2001, visiting the area for a long weekend, they found a distressed property, made an offer, and ultimately moved here permanently within the next 6 weeks! They both became very involved in the community.

The Kiwanian of the Year served with the Topsail and Hampstead Chambers of Commerce for over 5 years and held various leadership and office positions.

Over the years, many organizations and non-profits have come to depend on his active support –

He’s currently involved with Topsail Chamber, Topsail and Hampstead Kiwanis, Hope for the Warriors, Raider Project,
Share the Table, Reel Housewives of Topsail, Jazz Festival, Paddle for Troops, Autumn with Topsail, Out of Darkness Suicide Awareness programs, Historical Society, and our local schools.

This year, he supported Kiwanis

  • Offering t-shirt discounts when we were purchasing disaster relief clothing for the local kids after Hurricane Florence,
  • He generously was the first business to support Kiwanis’ new Sponsorship Campaign fundraising model and even assisted Bill with the installation of the new Kiwanis sign located on Highway 50.

When he’s not working at ThreadFx, he enjoys traveling, visiting his two sons and their families in Michigan, playing Chutes and Ladders with his four grand kids and messing around with projects in his workshop.
